3 TIPS FOR AN EFFECTIVE PILATES WORKOUT

Teah is a passionate instructor (you can catch her at Peaches Pilates) who is adamant that a little goes a long way for you to see real results in a Pilates workout.

Here are her tips to making this five-minute workout really deliver.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
“The slower you go the more effective the burn will be, you don’t want to compromise your form by trying to speed it up.”

CONSISTENCY IS KEY
“My best advice is to just start, do it for you, no one is ever looking at you when they’re on their mat. Pilates instructors say keep your neck long and your eye gaze at the top of the mat, so no one is looking at each other.”

CORE, CORE, CORE
“Core is super important. There is no point doing a Pilates class if your core is not activated and if you don’t know how to activate your core, plug your bellybutton into your spine and pull your pelvic floor up like you’re holding in a wee! You might lose your core through the workout so make sure you keep it up, your core should be working out just as much as any other part of your body.”
